About This Dadi Ki Recipe Fruit Cake
Every family seems to have a version of this cake — dense, dark, packed with dry fruit that's been soaking for days, and spiced with cinnamon, clove and nutmeg until the whole kitchen smells like Christmas even in the middle of April. We built ours around that memory, keeping the traditional soak-and-spice method but making the batter eggless without losing the richness.
Raisins, currants, tutti-frutti, cashews and candied peel are soaked in rum for 48 hours before going into the batter, giving the cake real depth rather than just fruity sweetness. It's dense by design — this isn't a light, fluffy cake, it's meant to be sliced thin and savoured slowly, and it actually improves over the first few days.
What's inside:
- Rum-soaked dry fruits (raisins, currants, tutti-frutti, cashews, candied peel)
- Traditional spice blend: cinnamon, clove, nutmeg
- Dense eggless batter, molasses depth
- Optional: custom message plaque
- No preservatives, 7-day shelf life airtight
What Indore is Saying
"This genuinely brought back memories of my dadi's fruit cake — dense, properly spiced, loaded with soaked fruit. Most bakery fruit cakes are dry and skimp on the dry fruit. This one doesn't."
"Bought a kg and kept half of it for 4 days in an airtight box — it actually tasted better on day 4 than day 1. That's how you know it's made the traditional way, not a quick-bake version."
