About This Chai Masala Shortbread
There's a reason chai and something crumbly always show up together. The Chai Masala Shortbread is our answer to that pairing — a thick, sandy-textured butter cookie built specifically to survive a dunk without falling apart, and spiced heavily enough to hold its own against a strong cup of adrak wali chai.
We steep real Assam tea leaves directly into the butter before creaming it, so the malty flavour runs through the whole cookie, not just the surface. Fresh ginger, whole green cardamom and Ceylon cinnamon go in next — coarsely ground so you get little bursts of spice rather than a flat masala flavour. The dough is chilled and hand-cut, giving each piece that classic thick, short, crumbly bite.
No eggs anywhere in the recipe — this is a pure butter-and-flour shortbread, which happens to also be naturally more forgiving to make eggless well. Jain-friendly. No preservatives. Sealed box keeps them fresh and crisp for two full weeks.
